The Driver Training, DriveWize Ireland training course, is designed to increase awareness of how a user’s behaviour on the road can affect how safe a driver they are. Accidents happen due to inattention and distractions as well as failure to observe the rules of the road.
According to the Road Safety Authority (RSA), 2015 saw the lowest number of road deaths (166) since 2012 (162).
In the period January – December 2015 there were 159 fatal collisions resulting in 166 fatalities on Irish roads. Between 2014 and 2015 there was a 14% reduction in road fatalities nationally. This represents 20 (11%) fewer collisions and 27 (14%) less deaths compared to provisional Garda data for the same period in 2014.
Advances in technology and engineering improvements to both vehicles and highways may have played a role in preventing accidents. Improved education and training is very likely to have produced better and safer drivers.
The Driver Training, DriveWize IRL course, provides information to ensure individuals are aware of their responsibilities when driving on a public roadway. Users will be made aware of driving behaviours that cause accidents and be made more familiar with safe driving techniques.
The course outlines the legal requirements within the Republic of Ireland for ensuring a car is roadworthy. This is the NCT test and is concerned with the everyday safety of a vehicle. The Driver Training DriveWize IRL training module, highlights the factors that can impede a person’s driving, for example, poor weather conditions and alcohol consumption. The importance of good posture and posture change whilst driving is also explained on this course.
