A course designed to highlight your responsibilities when using the organisation’s Internet facilities and equipment or when referring to the organisation on social media from any equipment.

Social media has changed the way we communicate. Recent statistics show that 38 million people in the UK have active social media accounts, spending – on average – more than two hours per day using a variety of different online networking platforms. It seems highly likely that some of this is done in work time. Do you know the amount of time your staff are spending on social media? And are you concerned about what they might be saying?

The course describes how employees are expected to use IT facilities such as software applications, email, internet and social media tools in an appropriate manner.  Completion of this course will provide an understanding of the meaning of the following terms and the dangers of engaging in them:

Copyright infringement.
Engaging in discriminatory behaviour.
Contractual liability.
Breach of confidentiality.
Breach of data protection.
Accessing obscene material.
Defamation
Additionally, the Internet Use Policy online Course, explains how employees are responsible for the security of workplace mobile IT equipment. Users have a responsibility to protect mobile IT equipment from falling into the hands of unauthorised third parties. Furthermore, lost or stolen equipment should be reported immediately to management.
