The Physical Activity course describes what activities are considered moderate- and vigorous-intensity physical activities, and how long you should engage in these activities each week. Muscle-strengthening and flexibility activities are also important parts of a healthy lifestyle. The course explains why these activities are important for your health and wellbeing, as well as how much you should do.
Although physical activity has many benefits to us physically, mentally and emotionally, people use many excuses to avoid being more physically active. They might say they are too busy with work, home life or other commitments. Or maybe they aren’t physically active enough because they don’t know how to be active, don’t feel like it or think they are too unfit. But becoming more physically active does not have to be difficult. The course provides advice on ways you can be more physically active during the workday and also in your personal time, and how you can set SMART goals to plan and achieve a healthier approach to living.
